| Geisha | Posted at 09:04 on 11 Dec 2005 |
On a visit to the Golden Shrine in Kyoto, I had to wait some 20 minutes for the hordes of tourists to leave this geisha alone for just a few seconds, and managed to get just this one shot before another crowd entered from the right. She turned around before I could compose the shot, but I rather like that, having seen some other frontal shots I took which look a tad too touristic and contrived.
As I put the lens cap back on however, I realised that the lens was covered in condensation - it had been drizzling all morning - and assumed the shot would be ruined. Fortunately, the geisha herself is sharp on the negative, and the condensation has given the outer edges of the shot a soft blurred effect.
